The 11 elements in 7 groups contain one aspherical lens element. In addition to the optical layout, SMC and Ghostless Coatings have been applied to the individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting for high-contrast, accurate colours.

With the Pentax 35mm F/3.5 AL (iF) SMC FA you can focus from a distance of 30 cm to infinity.Focusing to infinity is ideal for shooting nocturnal landscapes, for example, because it allows you to get the stars, moon or galaxy in focus. In addition, switching between automatic and manual focus is very easy; the focus is controlled by the internal focus system, which means that the lens does not lengthen or shorten during focusing, meaning the balance point does not change. Lastly, the lens features Super Protect coating on the front lens element and the supplied lens hood has a polarisation filter window, so you can rotate the filter without having to remove the lens hood.
