Since 1995, passion for your images

The first steps

From a small garage unit in Capelle aan den IJssel, Peter Merceij founded Kamera Express in 1995. His passion for photography, his personal advice, and a broad range of products quickly attracted both hobbyists and professionals. In 1999, the launch of kamera-express.nl became a reality. The assortment continued to grow, and in 2003 the website was expanded into a functional webshop, giving us an even larger community. After a period of growth, we truly no longer fit in the garage unit. In 2005, the first real Kamera Express store opened on Rietbaan in Capelle aan den IJssel. It would be the first of many.

Growing and inspiring

After 2005, Kamera Express grew into a household name in the Netherlands. Stores opened in multiple cities, and we built a loyal community of image makers. The stores increasingly became a place where you not only find products, but can also gain knowledge and inspiration and attend workshops.

The expert in photo and videography for 30 years

With the acquisition of Foto Konijnenberg in 2018, Kamera Express took a major step into the international market. We opened stores in Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg, launched international webshops across much of Europe, and added more services to our offering, including camera rental (Kamera Express Rental, formerly Budgetcam) and professional print services (Profotonet). In this way, we support all image makers from start to finish in telling their story.
In 2025, we proudly celebrate our 30th anniversary – still driven by the same passion: inspiring, connecting, and equipping image makers with everything they need - both online and in-store. With that passion sharply in focus, we look forward to the next 30 years!
