User-friendly and efficient
Hip bags are designed in such a way that they are not in the way when they are attached to the hip, but provide every comfort. This efficiency results in user-friendly and compact hip bags, where you can also store accessories. The belt which is attached around the hip has been designed in such a way that it does not pinch or get in the way. This also ensures that the weight of the bag is properly distributed. There are models which, as well as a hip belt, come with a shoulder strap for extra wearing comfort. Crumpler and Lowpro offer a number of these handy hip bags. As well as ease of use, thanks to the sleek design and sturdy material the hip bags also last a long time.
Suitable for camera + extras
Thanks to the size (in between an ever-ready bag- and a shoulder bag), the hip bag is very suitable for using to carry various types of cameras. Whether you have a DSLR, instant- or video camera, a suitable bag can be found for every camera. As well as for carrying the camera in the hip bag, there is often also a place available for a lens, battery, flash and memory card. They can often be stored in specially built-in sections. So it will never cost you much time if you want to quickly change the lens or insert another memory card. There are even hip bags on the market which work with adjustable compartments, so that one time you can take your DSLR camera and lens with you and the next time binoculars with a small tripod.
Weatherproof and protective
It is not completely unimportant how a hip bag deals with changing weather conditions. Many of these bags are designed with water-repellent materials (polyester/nylon) so that with rainfall there is no risk of the parts in the bag becoming damp. In warm temperatures, the design also ensures that the heat does not have an effect on the camera. As well as being weatherproof, a hip bag also has a protective role. If you knock against something with the hip bag or drop it by accident, the bag will provide the desired protection. In addition, dirt is kept out when there is a lot of sand in the air for instance.
