What is a video tripod?
A video tripod is a tripod developed for use in combination with a video or DSLR camera. Due to the high load capacity and a professional video head, the video tripods can work with heavy video equipment. A video tripod is usually made of high quality material, which allows it to perform optimally in various weather conditions, whilst bearing considerable weight.
Available as a tripod or monopod
Video tripod models come in different formats: tripod (three legs) and monopod (one leg). The three-legged models offer fantastic results due to their stability and load capacity. It is easy to determine the optimal position for your footage with the unique construction and height-adjustable legs. In addition, the tripod versions are ideal for capturing stable footage in nature and cities, but also for creating film scenes or at festivals. Their weight and length however make tripods rather more cumbersome to take with you on the go, but the right bag can be the solution for this. The individual stick of a monopod offers greater manoeuvrability when filming, but you will need to bear the weight of it yourself. The monopod can be positioned on the ground using its sturdy foot, allowing you to quickly & easily adjust the image angle. This tripod is ideal for filming action scenes or busy crowds.
Fluid, stable footage
One great advantage of a video tripod is that its robust aluminium or carbon construction enables you to take professional film footage. Key here is that the camera can be smoothly turned without that movement being discernible in the end result. An important addition to this process is an integrated spirit level, which can also be bought separately. Enhanced camera stability is provided by the tripod legs and head. Tripods with spikes are ideal for rough terrains.
Robust tripod heads
A powerful video tripod cannot be without a tripod head of comparable quality. Many models are therefore equipped with a professional video head such as the tilt-pan or fluid head. A quick release plate is attached to this head, upon which you can mount your camera. Not only does this plate enhance stability, but it makes everything more secure, stopping the camera coming off the tripod.
