Description
Sony PXW-FX9
The Sony PXW-FX9 is a versatile professional video camera with which you can record documentaries, events or full-length feature films. The camera has a full frame 6K Exmor R CMOS sensor. Filming 4K DCI is thus possible in stunning cinematic quality. Thanks to the interchangeable lens system, it is possible to use various types of lenses, depending on your production and wishes. The camera comes standard with a Sony E-mount. The advanced stabilization works together with the Sony Catalyst software to get your moving images completely stable.
Powerful sensor with wide dynamic range
Compared to a classic 4K Super 35 mm sensor, the FX9 has a much larger surface area with a wider angle of view, as well as a greater depth of field. Film externally in 4K DCI or internally in UHD and full-HD up to 60fps in XAVC-I, XAVC-long, and MPEG HD. With future firmware updates, it will even be possible to film 16-bit RAW 4K at up to 120fps. Thanks to the 15+ stops of dynamic range, you and your editor can enjoy the many options in post-processing the images. Every detail is captured when you shoot 4K in 10-bit 4:2:2.
Dual ISO and ND filter
In addition to the large dynamic range, the FX9 has a dual base ISO of 800/4000. This ISO range is ideal if you often work with slower lenses that perform less well in poorer lighting conditions. Don't worry, even with this ISO range, the image remains razor-sharp without unwanted noise. Is there too much light? Then you switch on the electronic ND filter, or the camera does so automatically. The steps of this filter are as smooth as possible, so switching between light changes is possible. The ND filter goes from 1/4 to 1/128, so working with slower shutter speeds is also possible.
Hybrid Autofocus
Sony's hybrid autofocus really simplifies working with the FX9 in situations where you can't or don't want to have control over the focus. Fast-moving subjects are tracked and brought into focus with no problems at all. Facial recognition ensures actors and interviewees are always clearly visible in the picture. The 561 phase-detection points cover a total of approximately 95% of the sensor, so the autofocus is a hit every time.
High quality files
You can choose a different file for saving each project. XAVC-I can store video in the highest quality. XAVC-Long is suitable for longer recordings, for example, documentaries. It is also possible to save in a standard MPEG HD encoding if you wish. All videos are stored on one of the two XQD cards (not included) that fit in the camera.
