Profoto history in a flash
Profoto was founded in 1968 in Stockholm by photographer and engineer Eckhard Heine and photo retailer Conny Dufgran. This collaboration began when Conny sold a flash to Eckhard which did not work. Eckhard was so irritated by the defect device that he went home to invent a new type of flash. A few weeks later, he went back to Conny and showed him the wonderful new flash. A few years later, they were standing at the Photokina in Cologne with their Pro-1 generator. This turned out to be a great success and Profoto was born with a bang.
