The lens is unique due to its extremely short focusing distance of 9.5cm and a magnification of 0.25x (35mm camera equivalent: 0.5x). This allows you to put extra emphasis on the subject that stands out against an expansive background.

The lens design is made up of twelve elements divided into nine groups. In non-linear mode, the focus point shifts by a variable amount, depending on the speed at which you rotate the focus ring. To shift the focus point by a fixed amount, use the linear mode. The amount of shifting then depends on how far you turn the focus ring. How far the focus point shifts per amount of rotation can be set from 90 to 360 degrees, in 30-degree increments. The lens is equipped with a special mechanism that suppresses focus breathing. Finally, the aperture control is in microsteps, allowing smooth adjustment of exposure.
