There is also built-in 5-axis Dual I.S.2 image stabilisation, offering up to 6.5 stops. I.S. image stabilisation provides 5 stops of stabilisation. You can also shoot stable handheld footage thanks to Active I.S. image stabilisation, which reduces blur caused by camera shake.

Easy editing and sharing

The Panasonic Lumix S9 works seamlessly with your smartphone. You can create your own so-called 'signature presets' on your smartphone. These signature presets are specific colour styles that you have created in advance. By transferring them to the S9, you can apply them directly to the photos and videos you capture. This saves time in post-production. In addition to creating your own presets, you can also choose to download presets via the LUMIX Lab app. Your shots can be transferred quickly and easily to your smartphone thanks to improved connection speed and stability. This uses a new recording format: MP4 Lite. This is an Open Gate video mode optimised for smartphones. Within 30 seconds, your photo or video is online, exactly the way you want it.

Extend your reach with crop and hybrid zoom

You can extend the zoom range of the Panasonic S9 while maintaining image quality. This is possible with the crop zoom function and the hybrid zoom function. The crop zoom function uses the centre of the camera sensor to extend the normal zoom range. The hybrid zoom function uses both optical and crop zoom to increase the focal length even further.

The Panasonic LUMIX S 18mm f/1.8 is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 100° angle of view. Thanks to this wide angle of view, this lens is suitable for various applications, such as landscape, astro and architecture photography. In addition, the shortest focusing distance of 0.18 metres gives you more possibilities when shooting close-ups. The lens construction consists of 13 lens elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical lenses, three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses, one UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The three aspherical lenses ensure superior imaging performance and the three ED lenses suppress chromatic aberration. In addition, the large f/1.8 aperture with nine aperture blades delivers beautiful bokeh effects. The lens works smoothly and quietly with the camera’s fast AF system, as the digital signal between the camera and the lens is exchanged at up to 240 fps. When focusing manually, in non-linear mode the focus point shifts by a variable amount depending on the speed at which the focus ring is turned. In linear mode, the focus point shifts by a fixed amount depending on how far the focus ring is turned. When recording videos, a mechanism in the lens suppresses 'focus-breathing'. Combined with aperture control in micro-steps, which allows exposure to be adjusted smoothly, this mechanism enables professional-quality video recording. Thanks to its compact design and low weight of 340 grams, the LUMIX S 18mm f/1.8 is easy to take with you. In addition, its robust, dust- and splash-resistant design can even withstand harsh conditions down to -10 degrees Celsius.
