What is a microphone stand?
A microphone stand is designed to hold the microphone close to the sound while recording video. Due to their light weight, these extendable pole stands are easy to use and can be brought close to the subject due to their construction. This allows them to be used for a variety of recordings and offers the stability to get the best out of film images in busy environments and with a lot of background noise.
Noise cancelling and adjustability
A microphone stand has been developed to counteract vibrations and suppress noise in filming environments. The technology that is used for this also ensures that noise from the lens, motor and camera doesn't carry through to the final recording. Many microphone stands can be adjusted in length to allow the microphone to capture sounds both close to the ground and above certain objects. The providers of these tripods are Rycote and Rode.
