With the Laowa 20mm f/4.0 Zero-D Shift Lens (Pentax K), Laowa presents a wide-angle shift lens for full- and medium-format cameras. It offers excellent optical properties and technical features. The angle of view is ??as high as 94.4 degrees, and 117 degrees for a panoramic shot with full shift. This corresponds to a focal length of about 13 mm. Thanks to a maximum shift of up to +/- 11 mm at full frame, this lens is perfect for architectural photography. For medium format, the shift on the X axis is also maximum +/- 11 mm and on the Y axis maximum +/- 8 mm. Even very tall buildings can be imaged without falling lines.

Shifting would now also be possible later via image processing, but then the image would be cropped and thus the advantage of the wide angle of view would be reduced. Again, this saves work and the quality of the original is preserved. The 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift is another lens in the successful Laowa Zero-D series, which allows photographers to obtain image results with straight lines without distortion. This top optical performance and great sharpness are achieved thanks to 16 elements in 11 groups with 2 spherical and 3 ED elements. The close-up distance of just 25 cm enables impressive close-ups, while the 20 mm focal length ensures a very natural perspective in the wide-angle range.

The high-quality lens coating has also been enhanced to further minimise flare and ghosting, in addition to the already significant reduction in chromatic aberration. Thanks to the 14 aperture blades, a very nice 14-beam sun star is created when shooting against the sun or a point light source. The built-in rotation function allows photographers to change the shift direction to portrait orientation in no time. The mechanism is available 360 degrees, with the lens locking every 15 degrees.

Another highlight is the rotating lens hood, which can be rotated specifically in the direction of incident light to prevent unwanted reflections. As the front does not have a domed glass element, blower filters with a diameter of 82mm can be used.
