The DZOFilm Vespid Prime 2 18mm T1.9 PL is built for filmmakers who want wide-angle shots without compromising on image quality or on-set workflow. With its broad angle of view and constant T1.9 aperture, this lens is ideal for spacious scenes where both environment and subject matter. At the same time, its high speed gives you extra flexibility in low light and more creative freedom with depth of field.
Optically, this 18mm features a design of 15 elements in 12 groups, including aspherical elements that effectively reduce distortion, chromatic aberration and contrast loss. The result is a sharp, controlled image right into the corners, with consistent colour rendering that matches perfectly with other focal lengths in the Vespid Prime 2 series. This makes it easy to swap lenses without noticeable differences in look.
Thanks to floating elements, image quality remains strong even at short focusing distances. With a minimum focus distance of just 0.25 metres, you can create close wide shots that give extra emphasis to the foreground. Combined with minimal focus breathing, the angle of view stays stable during focus pulls, making this lens highly suitable for moving shots and narrative camera work.
Mechanically, the lens is fully tuned for professional cine use. The PL mount supports Cooke i metadata, enabling real-time lens data transfer to compatible cameras and post-production software. Manual focus offers a long 300-degree rotation for precise focusing, while the compact, uniform build makes it easy to integrate the lens into rigs, matte boxes and gimbals.
