The Canon CR-N500 is a dynamic PTZ camera with 1” sensor and extensive functions for smooth panning, tilting and zooming. This makes the camera ideally suited for live productions, broadcasting and streaming of events. It can also be used perfectly in education and business. With 4K video and 15x zoom, you can capture everything in razor-sharp detail for your distant viewers.

The CR-N500 features a 1” CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV6 processor that ensure that you can still shoot high-quality images with low noise, even at a minimum lighting of 1.5 lux. You can film 4K Ultra HD at up to 29.97 frames per second. The lens has a focal length of 25.5 to 382.5mm in 35mm equivalent. That equates to a maximum angle of view of 73º (horizontal) and 45.2º (vertical). With nine aperture blades and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at wide angle and f/4.5 zoomed in, it is possible to create a beautiful bokeh behind your subjects. In addition, the Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus ensures that you can focus superfast and extremely accurately, even in low light. With Face Priority/Face Only AF, faces are automatically detected and the focus follows the subject.

The PTZ camera supports a wide range of IP streaming and control protocols such as NDI|HX2*, RTMP/RTMPS, RTP/RTSP and Canon’s XC protocol, making it easy to integrate into your workflow. It also has various connection options such as HDMI and 3G-SDI. Please note that the output via SDI is limited to Full-HD (1920x1080). You can enjoy the full potential with 4K video via HDMI or IP. To ensure good professional audio, the CR-N500 is equipped with two XLR audio inputs in addition to a 3.5mm microphone jack.

The CR-N500's control mechanism is extremely precise, allowing pan and tilt movements to be precisely adjusted at different speeds. The camera can be controlled using the remote control, Canon's free Remote Camera Control application, the RC-IP100 controller or other selected third-party controllers. The CR-N500 is intended for indoor use.

New driver for extended PTZ functionality

From April 2022, a free driver will be available for download for the Canon PTZ cameras with which the CR-N300 and CR-N500 can be easily and seamlessly deployed in higher education, houses of worship and workplace environments. Support for two new protocols, SRT and FreeD, has also been added. These provide simple and cost-effective solutions for VR and AR productions, as well as high-quality streaming with minimal downtime.
