The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 digital cinema camera offers the electronics and recording options of its Mini Pro predecessor, an extensive control set and even more functionality. The G2 introduces an updated Super 35 4.6K sensor with 15 stops dynamic range at 3200 ISO, high recording speed up to 300 fps and additional recording functionality.

First, the addition of external camera control makes it possible to open menus to change exposure settings, enable slow/fast motion, or enable focus assistance or other functions. The exterior of the camera has a monochrome LCD screen that displays essential shooting data at a glance. Another welcome Pro feature is the built-in filter wheel with ND (neutral density). The four-position wheel switches between two, four and six stops neutral density plus a clear filter for no reduction in exposure.

In addition to the CFast 2.0 slots, two SD card slots allow more affordable media to be used for less intensive recording formats. The G2 introduces a USB-C expansion port so that you can record directly to external discs. The standard electronic EF lens mount is interchangeable and adjustable by the user to ensure a correct focal length.

The core of the camera is the acclaimed Super 35mm 4.6K sensor block from Blackmagic Design, which is known for its ability to capture cinematic images with subtle gradients and a large dynamic range of 15 stops. The G2 can now capture Blackmagic RAW images in film and extended modes, making it more versatile to meet your production needs. Probably the most impressive update is the ability to make 4.6K recordings at 120 fps, 4K DCI at 150 fps or even 1080p images at 300 fps, which is very suitable for fast action recordings.

Like the URSA Mini, the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 can record unprocessed, high-resolution sensor data in CinemaDNG format on CFast 2.0 or SD memory cards up to 60 fps. The raw files retain the full dynamic range and color tones of the sensor, so you can have more control over the appearance in post production. However, heavy uncompressed RAW files are not always easy to edit, so in addition to uncompressed raw recordings, the URSA Mini Pro offers compressed raw recordings with 3:1 and 4:1 compression ratios to save space while maintaining post-production flexibility.

Because the form factor of the original URSA Mini has been retained, the ergonomic benefits have also remained. With optional accessories such as the VCT shoulder pad, side handle extension, broadcast battery plate and EVF, the camera can be equipped for comfortable shooting for long periods.
