Wide Angle lens

A wide angle lens is a lens with a large image angle. Wide-angle lenses, as the name suggests, have a large angle of view. This means they can see much of the area. A wide-angle lens is very suitable for landscape, architecture, and interior photography. A wide-angle lens can deform your subject. For example, straight lines may look bent. This is easily corrected during post-processing.

The benefits of a wide angle lens

Wide angle lenses have a wide angle of view and a focal length between 10 and 35 millimeters. A big advantage of a wide angle lens is that you can use this lens to capture much of the environment. The lens is therefore ideal for landscape, architecture and interior photography.

The crop factor of a wide angle lens

It is important that a lens is compatible with the sensor in your camera. An APS-C sensor is smaller than a full frame sensor, thus capturing a smaller image than a full frame camera. What happens then is that part of the image is captured. This means that a 28mm lens on a camera with APS-C sensor corresponds to a 42mm lens on a full frame camera. This lens ultimately has a smaller wide angle than you would initially think. It is useful to keep this in mind when looking for a wide angle lens.
