Whereas the professional Sports version offers weather sealing, the emphasis at the Contemporary is put on exceptional optical performance combined with both a compact weight and a compact design. The Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary has a compact and lightweight design that makes it easier to handle. This is emphasised in its optical performance by applying a single FLD- and three SLD glass elements, optimising the image quality throughout the entire zoom range and minimising chromatic magnification error. Optical aberrations, from what ultra telephoto zoom lenses especially in the longest zoom position suffer from, are optimally suppressed throughout the entire zoom range. The lens is dust-proof and waterproof for shooting in the field and thanks to the removable tripod mount, shooting out of hand is as easy as possible. This lightweight lens delivers great optical performance and excellent handling.

Intelligent OS with a renewed algorithm

The OS (Optical Stabilizer) is provided with an acceleration sensor that provides a higher precision. There are two OS functions: ‘1& rsquo; for general photography and ‘2& rsquo; for motorsports and other types of photography for which ‘panning’ is needed. In function 2 the acceleration sensor works together with the intelligent OS and the renewed stabilisation algorithm ensures optimal stabilisation in horizontal, vertical or diagonal panning, regardless of the position of the lens. This feature allows for effortless successful shots of moving subjects.

Note: This lens is not usable on SLRs except the Nikon F6 and Canon EOS-1V.

Zoom Lock (‘Lock’) at any focal length

Thanks to the new zoom lock, the zoom position can be locked at any point. It is adjustable to any desired zoom position, allowing that down or up photography is possible without changing the zoom position. This is also useful when shooting at slow shutter speeds.

Water- and oil-repellent coating

The front lens has a water- and oil-repellent coating, so that water can be easy wiped off and which prevents oil and grease from sticking to the surface, even under poor recording conditions. This also makes the cleaning of the lens surface easier.

Dust and waterproof mount

Like the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM from the Sports line, this lens has a rubber washer that protects the mount against dust and splashes.

Optimised AF

The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures a fast and quiet AF. Thanks to the in comparison with the previous versions further improved AF algorithm, the focus efficiency of the continuous AF (AF-C) is improved by about 5%.
