Leica Super-Elmar-M 18mm F3.8 Asph. Black
The LEICA SUPER-ELMAR-M 18mm F3.8 ASPH is despite its huge viewing angle a very compact lens, which is characterized by excellent optical performance. Vignetting and distortion parameters, which are normally difficult to control in the design of super wide angle lenses, are extremely well adjusted, that, in practise, it no longer can be observed. The results are incredibly sharp, crystal clear and evenly illuminated from corner to corner. The lens is equipped with a rectangular patented compact lens hood which further contributes to the compact design.
The advantages:
On the digital M8 models, an angle of 24mm is achieved, making the LEICA SUPER-ELMAR-M 18mm F3.8 ASPH a very popular lens.
On all analogue Leica M models, excellent results are obtained, the very short focal length of 18mm offers fascinating new possibilities in image composition.
Due to the characteristics of this lens, a wide range of applications are covered, from reportage to landscape and architectural photography.
The largest opening of F3.8 can be used without hindrance, contrast and sharpness are all immediately optimal.
Even with fully open aperture the depth runs from 120 cm to infinity. Further narrowing the aperture enhances optical performance and depth even more.
