Description
The Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sigma DSLRs, is a member of Sigma’s professional lenses in the Art Series. The Art lenses are characterized by uncompromising optical performance: flare and ghosting, chromatic aberration, distortion and vignetting are practically non-existent. For added control, it even includes the possibility of setting the focus and to do firmware updates via the USB Dock (optional) and the Sigma Optimization Pro Software. & nbsp; The Sigma 24mm lens is perfect for wide-angle photography with the 9 rounded diaphragm blades which provide excellent lighting and a soft background focus (bokeh). The Super Multi Coating reduces flare and ghosting and provides images with higher contrast and color fidelity, even when the lighting is not optimal. The brass bayonet mount ensures accuracy and durability thanks to the special treatment of the surface, thus allowing that the bezel has a particularly long lifetime. The lens has 15 elements in 11 groups.
Features of the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
- Wide-angle lens
- Aperture: f/1.4-f/16
- Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM)
- Compatible with the optional USB Dock for Sigma AF adjustments and firmware updates
- 9 rounded diaphragm blades for soft bokeh
- Three FLD & Four SLD glass elements to correct for chromatic aberrations throughout the entire focusing range
Minimal distortion
Distortion, which is very common in wide-angle lenses, can not be corrected by stopping down. Therefore, the development was also crucial in ensuring minimal distortion. The SIGMA Art 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM corrects the angle of the light rays coming from the front lens by placing an aspherical element front and rear. This arrangement ensures minimal distortion over the entire image area.
High brightness at the edges
In the case of a lens with a large diameter, the brightness towards the edges of the image area, in general, decreases with respect to the image center. Through improving the efficiency at large openings and minimizing vignetting, there was a very good brightness. Even in low light and at full aperture, this produces high-contrast photography for indoor shots, astronomical photography and when photographing a blue sky.
Designed for minimal flare and ghosting
Flare and ghosting are thoroughly measured and studied in the development stage in order to provide an optical design which is resistant to strong incident light, such as backlight. The Super Multi Coating suppresses flare and ghosting and provides sharp, high contrast images even in backlit conditions.
