Description
The Leica Thambar-M 90mm F2.2 features the same optical design and distinctive image quality as the original version of the 30's. Leica's Thambar-M 90mm f/2.2 is an M-mount lens that is characterized by its unique soft focus look and the use of a removable center spot filter to enhance the dreamy properties of the lens. This lens has the same optical format as the original, but the glass elements have a low coating for greater protection against the elements and corrosion. This new version also features a striking black paint finish and double diaphragm scales, in white and red, to work with and without the removable center spot filter.
Conscious sub-correction of spherical aberration, along with a 20-sheet diaphragm, produces a circular representation of blurred highlights, along with an overall diffuse quality that exaggerates to the edge of the frame. A short telephoto focal length and bright f/2.2 maximum aperture are ideal for portraits and insulating subjects using shallow depth of field techniques. Double diaphragm scales, in red and white, represent working with and without the middle spot filter. In addition, the diaphragm ring is a stepless solution for smooth, precise adaptation, which is not limited by click-stops. Manual focus design provides a minimum focus distance of 1 meter.
Included is a Vintage Brown hard leather bag that enhances the classic look and nostalgia of this lens and includes a storage compartment in the lid for the included middle spot filter. In addition, the supplied specially designed metal lens hood and metal front lens cap are lined to protect the metal body from the lens from scratches.
