Ultra-compact and lightweight, the XA55 offers a high-quality 4K UHD image with useful features such as Dual Pixel CMOS AF, 15x Canon optical zoom lens and advanced Full HD image quality thanks to excellent oversampling HD image processing. The XA55 features a large CMOS sensor for superb bokeh with high sensitivity and low noise. The camera also benefits from enhanced Full HD image quality with oversampling HD image processing, while the Wide DR setting allows a wide dynamic range to be captured.

Optimise the quality of your images with a 25.5mm 4K ultra-wide-angle and 15x optical zoom with Super UD lens elements to minimise chromatic aberration. Advanced 5-axis image stabilization makes it possible to film on the move or shoot from the hand. The XA55 offers Dual Pixel CMOS AF for fast and accurate autofocus in approximately 80% (vertical and horizontal) of the sensor. Face Detection AF and Touch Tracking provide seamless focus control and intuitive operation. The Dual Pixel Focus Guide provides a graphical interface that helps with manual focusing.

The XA55 supports shooting in multiple formats, including XF-AVC and MP4. It can also record XF-AVC 4K UHD 160Mbps to 25P, as well as Full HD 45Mbps at 50P/50i/25P. It is also capable of recording MP4 4K 150 Mbps at 25P and Full HD 35 Mbps at 50P/25P. Recording in slow and fast motion is also possible in 4K/Full HD up to 1200x. The powerful functionality includes an infrared mode, which allows users to record video in low to no ambient light conditions, and the ability to simultaneously make backups and relay recordings using the dual SD card slot.

Other features include 3G-SDI, professional audio support with two XLR connectors and 4-channel linear PCM, as well as low power consumption for longer battery life.
