The Blackmagic Video Assist 5" 12G HDR is a professional monitor and recorder in one for film productions. The 5-inch screen has a full-HD (1920x1080) display and a brightness of no less than 2500 cd/m². In every situation, the screen is therefore clearly visible, so that the focus and composition are correct. With HDMI or 12G-SDI you can record video from various cameras. The Blackmagic Video Assist records HDR video in a resolution of 4K DCI, 4K UHD, 2K or HD in 10-bit 4:2: 2. The files are standard in Apple ProRes format, but also available in DN x HD and DN x HR encodings.
The use of 3D LUTs is supported, so you can apply all your LUTs even while filming. Record video to a single UHS-II SD card or directly via USB-C to an external hard drive. Thanks to the very fast touchscreen, working with the Blackmagic Video Assist is very pleasant. Various settings such as histogram, waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope, zebra, peaking, and much more can, be easily activated. A tally lamp on the top of the monitor indicates when it is recording.
