Description
With the B+W 810 ND 3.0 MRC Nano XS Pro Digital 43mm Filter , the amount of incoming light on your image sensor is reduced. An ND filter, also known as Neutral Density (ND) or gray filter, is used when too much light limits your creative possibilities. With a Neutral Density filter you can use longer exposure times or larger aperture openings under the same light conditions. In addition, you can use ND filters to prevent overexposure if you are filming with a DSLR, action cam or video camera with a fixed shutter speed.
The application possibilities of ND filters are very varied: a small depth of field for bright daylight portraits, creative motion effects with slow shutter speeds (panning), capturing running water, reducing your shutter speeds in the snow, and so on. Keep in mind that an ND filter has a slightly warm tone by nature, which can of course be corrected in post-processing. The B+W 810 ND 3.0 MRC Nano XS-PRO Digital filter removes ten f-stops of light. Depending on the type of camera, autofocus may not work as well, since an AF sensor requires a certain amount of light for maximum performance. A 10x ND filter is also called a big stopper and is ideal for (very) long time recordings from a tripod. This allows you to record moving air, for example. The B+W 810 ND 3.0 MRC nano XS-PRO Digital filters are available in all common filter sizes from 30.5 up to and including 95 mm diameter.
All ND MRC Nano XS-Pro filters are made from high-quality optical glass and have a B+W MRC nano coating. MRC (Multi Resistant Coating) coated filters have a multi-coating on both sides that ensures a maximum reduction of reflections and stray light. As a result, an MRC nano filter delivers brighter colors and a higher contrast. In addition, MRC protects the filter against scratches because this layer has an increased hardness and is dirt and water repellent. The nano technology ensures that drops drop off the filter surface. This makes cleaning your ND filter even easier. The hydrophobic surface also covers less rapidly, so that condensation on the glass surface disappears very quickly when transitioning from a cold to a warm environment. The MRC nano coating is present on all XS-Pro digital filters.
The B+W ND MRC nano XS-Pro filters are supplied in the XS-Pro version. The XS-Pro filter mount is a very thin filter mount that prevents vignetting with most wide angle lenses from 12 mm for APS-C image format cameras. The XS-Pro filter mount is made of brass and has a matte black finish that prevents reflections. Because an XS-Pro filter also has a thread on the front of the filter, the standard lens cap of the lens can be used, but it is also possible to combine several filters. However, combining filters can cause vignetting!
